How rent is calculated
Our rents are set according to a formula set by the government, based on a number of factors, which includes the valuation for the property, the number of rooms and other attributes.
Your tenancy agreement sets out the amount of rent for your property and any service charge is shown separately.
Service charges apply if you live in a house with shared common areas – like a porch or a hall – where you may pay an amount towards the cleaning of the common areas, the electricity used for lighting these areas, and the cost of garden maintenance and rubbish disposal.
The tenancy agreement also sets out how and when your rent and service charges can be increased.
