Requesting a Transfer

Although we have a transfer list of tenants who need to move because their property is no longer suitable for some reason, we have only a very small number of properties and it is rare for us to have any vacancies.

If you need to move because you are overcrowded, or the property is too small for you, you should apply through the local authority – Bexley Council. They will only consider you for a move if your existing accommodation is unsuitable for your needs – usually either too large or too small for your family.

If you would like to move, you could also consider a mutual exchange. This is an arrangement where you find another housing association or council tenant to swap homes with. You need the permission of both landlords, but for many households, this has been a very successful option

We are a member of the national ‘home swappers’ mutual exchange website and our tenants can register on this at no cost to them and start looking for a swap. You can either register directly at the Homeswapper website or contact our office.

Please remember that if you find someone to swap with, you need our approval.

Please remember that if you find someone to swap with you need our approval. We can only withhold this in certain circumstances – you will, for example, need a clear rent account. Also, it is illegal for someone to pay you, or for you to offer someone money, for a mutual exchange.
