History of the Organisation

Bexley Churches Housing Association is a registered Social Landlord registered under the Industrial & Provident Society Act with charitable status. It was formed in 1965 by members of the local churches, who recognised the need for affordable rented housing in the borough of Bexley, for both single people and families. We have grown steadily since and we are now well established in the borough as part of the voluntary community.

In 2004, BECHA diversified into the provision of support for people with mental health issues, in order for them to maintain their tenancy and independence. It is our aim to maintain independence, to build on this solid base and to continue to expand in order to provide a high quality housing management related service to the local community.

BECHA is registered with charitable rules under the Industrial & Provident Societies Act 1965, registration number 17138R, and with the Tenant Services Authority, registration number L0976.
